DOWNLOADS

Some of the following downloads are in PDF format. If you don't have the latest Adobe Reader, please download the reader.

Marcia Stein's Downloads for Job Seekers:
    Addressing Common Job Search Questions
Fundamentals for Effective Use of LinkedIn
Reference Checking - What Candidates Need to Know
    Successful Interview Skills
    Utilizing Job Boards

Jenny Kahn, PHR has two LinkedIn downloads, both PowerPoints with different topics. LinkedIn: Beyond Basics and LinkedIn: Successful Profiles. NOTES: LI changes the interface and adds functions on a regular basis. Some slides may not reflect the latest, but you can still find the information on LI.  Jenny is an open networker so link to her and view her other presentations on her profile.

Dan Harris was on our panel about recruiting and here are his resources for job seekers and recruiters:

    For Jobseekers:
    www.indeed.com
    www.simplyhired.com

Our group had a special event for job seekers in April, 2009, and two of the speakers provided files for us. NOTE: Scroll down in each handout and you will find a tremendous amount of information.

For selling and job search: "Cold Calling Techniques (That really work!)" by Stephan Schiffman
Great book about job searching, interviewing, general info with lots of sample questions/answers in the back: "Knock 'em Dead" by Martin Yate

Some private coaches with books or mailing lists:

Carol Martin is an interview coach and has written several books.

Need focus in your career decisions/job hunt? "What Color is Your Parachute" by Richard Bolles. His website is a supplemental site, not meant to replace the book.
KITLIST: This is an email listing of open positions primarily in the Silicon Valley (Some are outside of California or even the country.) If you subscribe, you are only allowed to post open positions. If you send in anything else you'll be dropped and banned from further participation. Best advise: subscribe to the daily digest and only read. DON'T POST!

REMEMBER THIS: STUDIES SHOW THAT APPROXIMATELY 80-90% OF ALL POSITIONS ARE FOUND VIA NETWORKING! My experience in recruiting and tracking staffing would agree with this data.
