Dear Friends,
How are you doing? Isn't this a beautiful September?
We hold formal meetings once every two months, and for those in-between months, we encourage you to plan coffee, lunch, dinner or an event on your own. You can use our LinkedIn group to publicize your event. This will give you some latitude in location and timing, and that should help more of us come out and meet each other.
I have to update this post as I saw something I had to share. On LinkedIn there was an article about people working killer hours and how this was unproductive. Here's part of a response from a man named Peter Nolan: "One of the reasons that no fortune 500 company has ever been founded by women is exactly because men are willing to work crazy hours for peanuts running the risk that the company will be successful. Women, in general, are not willing to work those same hours based on the same risk reward profile because they don't have to. They can simply marry a man who does this and gain most of the benefits without the work....."
What do you think of that? I was stunned!

Our September 21 Community Event
Our next speaker is our long-time member and volunteer, Rebecca Linquist. Her topic is "The Voice of Leadership." Learn how to evaluate your own voice quality and determine what is preventing you from having a fuller, richer voice, and discover tools you can use to improve your voice quality and change how others perceive you when you speak. Please see the event details and RSVP link by clicking here.

Please join our group on LinkedIn so you’ll be updated on announcements and posts. Because it is much easier to send mail through LinkedIn than my home email, I strongly encourage you to join the group. You can post articles of interest, questions, meetings, resumes and jobs. Starting in January 2017, I will no longer send group emails from my personal address. If you're not on LinkedIn, you can follow this blog for announcements and updates.
Thank You for Our Last Event
Vinnie Warren was our volunteer and our panelists included Jack Warren, Lesley Hunter and Laney Donahue-Nott. There were some excellent insights into recruiting for job seekers and recruiters.

Not only do I hope to see you at our next event, I do hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to plan some extra networking events. I would love to attend some!
All the best,
Marcia
